Once back in the states, we had to get accustomed to the cold weather, differences in service, living with family, the cold!! There were a few days that we were FREEZING!! But all is good. It was nice to have some snow for a day... the girls really enjoyed that.
We are still working toward getting our Visas for our trip back to DR. We are keeping in touch with our contacts in Dominican Republic that are helping us with the whole process. We are so thankful to have that help.
We have been keeping as busy as we can in service and work. Right now we are working more than we have ever worked before... but we keep our mind on what the goal is at the end... and that is what we are concentrating on. We are working in a little bit of whatever we can find - cleaning an office building, working in a deli, watching some kids; and Jon has started working tutoring in English... and I am still working as a travel agent (jobs that we will continue when back in DR). It's nice to have a busy schedule... it does make the days go by faster.
We are also out in service more often. It did take some getting used to the differences in service. Personally, I had gotten used to (and LOVED) walking out in service every day! All day! I sure do miss that. So working the territory by car, is taking a little getting used to once again. But, as a family, we have a new love for service... We just really enjoy being in the ministry.
It's been so nice to get back with old friends... and making some new ones. We are having a wonderful time back home.
Here is where I get a little emotional.... Just thinking of being back in the states and our goal of going back to Dominican Republic... and how our little "project" has opened our eyes to so much more. So many of our friends; and friends that we have not met yet, have told us that because of what we have done, they too are encouraged to try to do more.
We are really encouraging our girls, and all the young ones -- everyone, really -- to keep their minds focused on serving Jehovah the absolute best way they can. Even if you can't do much right now, make sure you have your goals and always keep busy doing something that will help you work toward it your goal.
Sometimes it's hard to see beyond what is in our congregation... or our circuit. But within Jehovah's organization, our options are almost limitless. With Jehovah's help, every door is an opportunity to do something more.....
- Auxiliary or Regular Pioneering
- Serving in another congregation.... whether it be one close by, or another state or even country!
- Learning a new language
- Applying to Bethel
- Applying to the School of Kingdom Evangelizers
It is all possible!!! Trust that when you put Jehovah first and wholeheartedly decide to do your best to serve Him, the rest always comes together. Take the first step toward those things, Jehovah will always take care of you! You won't regret it! It really IS the BEST LIFE EVER!!!
Just my two cents...
