Just a quick post...
I have lost all sense of time. Not sure if its the Dominican lifestyle... the heat... the mosquito bites... or just joy and peace I feel living here.
I never know what time it is - sometimes I forget what day it is... There are times that I think 10 minutes have passed, and it's actually 4 hours later. But I don't really mind. This relaxed frame of mind is just what I need.
Last night a sister and her two sons invited us to the malecon for a night time stroll and for some rollerblading (for the kids, of course). In the states, it would have taken a lot and been very hard for me to get out the house after 7pm to take the girls out. But here... its just so different. We walked to a nearby "colmado" (bodega/corner store) bought some water and chips and walked to the malecon. The kids played for about an hour and half under the nighttime sky, listening to the ocean waves. The stars were so beautiful and the half moon lit so bright on the ocean.
It's those little things that just make my day -- even at 9 o'clock at night...
... at least I think that was the time.
