We had always had an "almost ready to Go-Bag" but it was never fully done. We knew we needed to get them done... and soon!
We did some research, via JW.org (this article and others) and checked online for a good pre-made bag. We found one bag that seemed to work for us... each family will have to check out what will be best for their own family. We took the time to make a few lists, made sure we didn't miss anything and checked what would be the best one for us.
We ended up purchasing one on Amazon; the company Emergency Zone. It is called the Emergency Zone 4 Person Urban Survival 72-hour Go Bag. Because this bag didn't have absolutely everything we felt we needed in our bags, we also purchased a few other items on the side.
The pack itself came with:
2 backpacks; roll of duct tape; 4 glow sticks; rope; 1 pair of work gloves; pocket knife; playing cards; can opener; survival whistle; first aid kit (118 pieces); pencil, weatherproof zip bag; 4 sleeping bags; 4 ponchos; 2 tents; 4 hand warmers; 4 packs of food bars (enough for 3 days per person); 24 water pouches; 2 water containers; 5 water purification powder packets; water filter straw; 1 radio flashlight; 4 toothbrushes; 2 toothpaste; 1 comb; 1 razor, 8 packets of shampoo; 1 bar of soap; 4 feminine pads; 1 washcloth; 1 toilet paper; 1 sewing kit
The items we purchased/added to our bags separately were:
2 other backpacks
2 LifeStraws
Weather Radio (hand crank & solar powered)
Regular plastic gloves
Hand sanitizer
Facial tissues
Wipes
Lighters
Batteries
Over the counter meds (acetaminophen; ibuprofen; pepto; antacid pills, etc...)
Then we also added some 'home items'... another card game, colored pencils, coloring book, other fiber/meal bars (the ones that come in the emergency pack aren't the best tasting - but they'll keep us alive!), deodorant, extra chargers & headphones and clothing.
We're ready!! But even if we are, we don't want to have to use them.
